DIVISION I

Woodbridge (19-4) vs. Palos Verdes Peninsula (21-1), Jack Kramer Club, Rolling Hills Estates, 3:15 p.m.

Woodbridge was handled by Peninsula, 16-2, this season but this is a different Warrior team than Peninsula saw in March. The players are essentially the same, except for doubles player David Lingman, who is slowly recovering from a bacterial infection in his back. But Woodbridge’s mentality has changed and its level of play has improved considerably. Coming off two incredible upsets over fourth-seeded Beverly Hills and top-seeded and eight-time defending champion Santa Barbara, the Warriors shouldn’t lack confidence. Singles players Chase Exon, Adam Artunian and Reza Farokhpay had big victories in both upsets and the doubles team of Greg Levy and Brandon Shainfield has been consistent all season. Second-seeded Peninsula’s strength all season has been doubles. It took seven of nine doubles sets in a semifinal victory over Corona del Mar and its top team of Kyle Rasmussen and Maurice Yu reached the quarterfinals of the section individual tournament.

DIVISION II

Sunny Hills (17-4) vs. San Marino (19-4), Lacy Park, San Marino, 3:15 p.m.

Second-seeded San Marino defeated Sunny Hills, 14-4, this season and knocked off defending champion Palm Desert, 73-69, in games, in the semifinals. San Marino has one of the nation’s top junior singles players, sophomore Andrew Park, who has reached the section individual singles finals the last two years. It also has one of the section’s best doubles team in James Tang and Jason Yao, who reached the section individual semifinals last weekend. Fifth-seeded Sunny Hills reached the finals by upsetting top-seeded North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake on games, 78-76, in the semifinals. San Marino will see a much different Sunny Hills team than it saw nearly three months ago. In that match, Sunny Hills played without No. 2 singles player John Han, No. 3 doubles player Jimmy Chu and the Lancers didn’t have their No. 1 team of Shaun Harris and Davin Lin together yet. Neither team will have its best player at full strength. Park has a strained arch and a quarter-sized blister on his foot and Chung has a pulled groin that he injured Friday.
