Brandon Smith
Canyon, Junior
Baseball/Designated hitter
Smith, one of the Comanches’ top hitters, suffered a slight slump late in the Century League season, but he fully recovered during the playoffs, when he had 14 runs batted in five games. Last week, he was especially productive. He had seven RBIs, including a grand slam, in a 9-1 victory over Tustin in the Division II semifinals Tuesday and two more RBIs in a 5-1 victory over Upland in the title game Saturday. “He’s seeing the ball really well right now,” Canyon Coach Mike Najera said. “It looks like a beach ball to him.”
