UCI Second in Yacht Racing

UC Irvine took second place at the Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Assn. National Coed Dinghy Championships Sunday at Lake Mendota near Madison, Wis.
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy was first with 129 points. UC Irvine had 158 points and third-place College of Charleston had 175.
Tufts (193) was fourth and Old Dominion (208) finished fifth in the 16-team field.
UC Irvine won the B division.

Kristen Walls of the Mission Viejo Nadadores took first in the women’s senior division three-meter competition at the Southern Pacific Assn. Outdoor Diving Championships at the Mission Viejo Aquatics Complex.
Walls finished with 484.85 points, edging teammate Erica Sorgi (481.35).
Sorgi won the girls’ 14-15 Junior Olympic three-meter competition. She had 437.65 points in the event.

The Orange County Diggers lost to San Diego, 15-12, 12-15, 15-3, 15-9, in a National Grass Volleyball League match Sunday at San Diego State.
Marni Woods had 20 kills for the Diggers (1-2) and Angelica Moore had 17 for San Diego (2-1).
