Job Hunt: A reorganization ordered Tuesday of the county’s Workforce Development Division (B4) is expected to have little effect on current jobs programs. . . . That’s good news for former employees of a Nabisco plant in Oxnard, who have been hunting for jobs through the county program since the factory shut down in March. . . . “We know the program will end eventually,” shop steward Frances Chacon said, “but it’s still needed.”

Bad Rap: A new study shows that while certain breeds of dog are more often involved in attacks, the problem is not confined to those animals (E3). Tell that to Kathy Jenks. . . . The county’s animal control chief said that while pit bulls and Rottweilers have the nastiest reputations, other dogs--notably poodles and shepherds--actually bite more often. . . . “It has absolutely nothing to do with the breed and everything to do with the owners,” she said.

Making the Grade: A few months ago, educators held a farewell dinner for Dorothy Jue Lee of Ventura, culminating six years of service on the State Board of Education. She didn’t stay gone for long. . . . Lee was appointed last week to a statewide commission reviewing academic standards. “I’m just thrilled,” said Lee, who taught for 33 years in Ventura. “I hope I can bring a lot to this commission, being a teacher fortunate enough to come from a district with high standards.”

Missing Memories: Want to check out Oxnard High’s Class of 1922? Don’t bother going to the library. . . . Officials are asking for help in completing their collection of Oxnard High yearbooks. Missing years include 1908-12, 1922 and 1986-94. . . . “People might be hanging on to yearbooks wondering what to do with them,” spokesman Dan Golden said. “We’d be happy to take care of them.” Call 385-7534 to help.
