Plan for Recharging Electric Cars Shelved

Share

A plan for a public recharging station for electric vehicles has been temporarily disconnected while the City Council seeks more information on the proposal.

City staff members had urged moving ahead with the project, which called for Placentia to join other Orange County communities in becoming “EV ready.” The council shelved the plan for the $20,000 facility, however, until issues such as legal liability can be addressed.

Among the sites being considered for a recharging station were City Hall and Placentia-Linda Hospital.

In other action, the council has approved refuse collection and recycling rates for fiscal 1996-97. The new residential trash rate is $13.96 a month, a decrease of 40 cents from the previous year. Commercial rates are $95.91 for a pickup, down 39 cents.

The lower rates are possible because of a recent decrease in dumping fees charged at county-operated landfills, officials said.
