CR Kay Suzie Wins Breeders Trot

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — CR Kay Suzie, harness racing’s Horse of the Year in 1995, made her second start of 1996 an impressive outing Friday, winning the $500,000 Breeders Crown Open Trot by 2 3/4 lengths.

CR Kay Suzie had been slowed this year by lameness and finished ninth following an early break in her only other start this year. But the 4-year-old brown mare looked like her old self Friday, taking over the lead after half a mile and pulling away down the stretch to win in 1:52 3/5. CR Kay Suzie paid $8 to win, and the victory increased her career earnings to $1,611,131.
