Boy, 16, Charged in Stabbing Death

A 16-year-old Sunland boy was charged with murder Tuesday after Los Angeles police detectives linked him to the recent stabbing death of a 34-year-old Tujunga man, authorities said.

Ernesto Dizon was found dead last Thursday afternoon in the living room of his apartment in the 10000 block of Tujunga Canyon Boulevard, after he failed to show up for work as an exterminator, police said.

LAPD Foothill Division Homicide Detective Frank Bishop said Dizon probably was killed Sunday, Aug. 4, after an argument with the teenager.

“The kid was seen exiting the apartment after a struggle was heard by neighbors,” Bishop said. “He voluntarily surrendered at his mother’s house” in Sunland on Friday afternoon.

The boy, who is being held at Sylmar Juvenile Hall, was also charged with auto theft, because police allege that he took Dizon’s pickup truck after the killing, and with lewd acts because of a previous incident in Glendale.

The teen, who had dropped out of school, probably knew Dizon for several months, Bishop said.

Dizon was stabbed in the neck with a sharp kitchen knife, which police recovered in the apartment.
