Arce Nets Winner for D.C. United

Raul Diaz Arce scored his 19th goal of the season in the 77th minute Wednesday night, giving D.C. United a 3-2 victory over the New York-New Jersey MetroStars in front of 20,416 at East Rutherford, N.J.

Arce, third in the league in scoring, ran onto a pass from Marco Etcheverry and without breaking stride whipped a shot from the right side of the box past by goalkeeper Tony Meola.

Colombian striker Antony De Avila scored twice for the MetroStars (12-13). Etcheverry and Richie Williams had the other goals for the United (12-14).

New England 4, Tampa Bay 2--Joe-Max Moore’s penalty kick in the 79th minute gave the Revolution (13-13) the go-ahead goal as the Mutiny (14-11) fell before 18,764 at Foxboro, Mass.

With the score tied, 2-2, in the 78th minute, Welton was tripped from behind, setting up Moore’s penalty kick.
