OUTLOOK

With last year’s tumultuous season behind them , the Sea Kings start anew with the interim label taken off Freeman’s title. He goes into his first full season with a team that has virtually no experience and, unlike last year, no true leaders to inspire and carry everyone along with them--a tough circumstance in this league. It also makes the arrival of Ellison, a transfer from Long Beach Poly, that much more valuable. O’Meara is one of the county’s better running backs, and he must have a great year (behind an inexperienced line) for Corona del Mar to make any waves. McClellan has some big shoes to fill with the graduation of quarterback Josh Walz, who directed the Sea Kings to within one yard of the Southern Section finals. To McClellan’s benefit, this group of receivers, as a whole, might be the best in the school’s history.
