OUTLOOK

With so many returning starters, Whittier Christian’s experience should count for something. The biggest loss was first-team, all-league offensive guard Tyson Brosz, but he’s really the only full-time starter the Heralds lost. Petrie, who rushed for 875 yards last year on 162 carries and was a second-team all-league selection, will be key to its potent running attack. Petrie moves from tailback to fullback this year and Algorri takes over as the primary tailback. Chris Vanderhook returns at quarterback and his primary targets will be Stofle, Dillon and Rios. Second-team, all-league selection Pena anchors a stocky, experienced offensive line. Second-team, all-league linebacker Coppes will lead the defense and Dillon also will be a standout at defensive end. “Our strength is going to be our experience. Another strength will be our size on both defensive and offensive lines,” Randall said. “Last year we were 2-8 with the same group of kids. It’s just a matter of them finding ways to win.”
