Outlook: The Spartans absorbed a serious blow when Jon Pharris, one of the top goalkeepers in the section, transferred to Newport Harbor over the summer, but they still will be tough to handle. Baumgarner and the Pacelli brothers provide the firepower and Nguyen has been steady in his new role taking over for Pharris. Nguyen’s older brother, Paul, was an all-section goalkeeper three years ago. “This team definitely has the potential to play with anybody, because we have three of the top offensive players around,” Ehrlich said.
