No. 6 San Clemente (0-0) vs. No. 5 El Toro (0-0), Trabuco Hills HS, 7 p.m.

El Toro lost only twice last year during the regular season, then won the Southern Section Division V championship. One of those losses was to San Clemente, 27-15, in El Toro’s first game and San Clemente’s second; the Tritons had played in Hawaii. El Toro Coach Mike Milner thought the head start gave San Clemente an advantage, but that’s not the case this year. One reason El Toro might not need an excuse is Murle Sango, who rushed for 1,237 yards and caught 69 passes for 879--and totaled 22 touchdowns. Rich Oates (1,347 yards rushing, 17 touchdowns) and receivers Michael Smith (33 receptions) and Brian Koupal (33) help keep defenses honest. San Clemente, which lost three regular-season games, is building on a season in which it shared the South Coast League title, toppling Mater Dei in the process.
