From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A magnitude 3.9 earthquake rumbled through the Lake Perris area Thursday, but there were no injuries or damage reported, authorities said. The 2:18 p.m. quake, centered seven miles northeast of Lake Perris in Riverside County, was not an aftershock of a previous quake, said Sue Pitts, a spokeswoman for Caltech in Pasadena. Earlier in the day, at 2:52 a.m., a 3.0 magnitude aftershock to the 1992 Landers earthquake struck about 21 miles northeast of Lucerne Valley in San Bernardino County. No injuries or damage were reported in that quake.
