Stone Powers Wolverines : Stone Powers Harvard Past South Pasadena

Seven players scored in the third quarter for Harvard-Westlake as the Wolverines (1-0) turned a three-goal halftime lead into an 18-6 rout of South Pasadena in a battle of Southern Section water polo powers at Pasadena City College.

David Stone scored five goals for Harvard-Westlake, which is ranked fifth in the Southern Section’s Division I poll.

Goalie Brandon Conley had 16 saves for the Wolverines, who played their season opener on the road for the first time in 11 seasons.

The Tigers are ranked sixth in Division III.

Nordhoff 7, Ventura 6--Justin Jewell scored with under a minute to play as the Rangers upset the Cougars in a nonleague game at Nordhoff.

The Cougars tied the game with 1 minute 5 seconds left to play but Jewell, who finished with three goals, got the deciding goal with 58 seconds remaining.

Corey Rubrecht added two goals for the Rangers (3-0).

Agoura 10, Crescenta Valley 6--Goalie Joey Smither had five of his 11 saves in the third quarter to spark the Chargers (3-2) in a nonleague game at Agoura.

Noah Bookman scored four goals for Agoura.

Burroughs 27, Temple City 8--Alfonso Tucay and Loran Leidenger each scored eight goals in a game at Burroughs (3-2).

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Alemany d. Chatsworth, 15-4, 15-12, 11-15, 15-9--Stefanie Lapointe had 11 kills and eight digs, and Sasha Hernandez added 11 digs and five kills for the Indians (2-0) in a nonleague match at Alemany.

Setter Casey Crandall had 32 assists for the Indians.

Louisville d. Calabasas, 6-15, 15-7, 15-4, 15-5--Colleen Miller and Jennifer Borncamp each had 10 kills for the Royals (1-1) in the nonleague victory at Louisville.

Kira Bosak had 35 assists and Jennifer Blair had seven blocks for Louisville (1-1).

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Louisville 9, Royal 9--Sophomore Katie Gallant swept three sets at No. 1 singles by 6-0 scores as the Royals (1-2) won on games, 83-72, in a nonleague match at Royal.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Moorpark 2, Irvine Valley 0--Jessica Crespo scored in the 60th minute with an assist from Marissa Capra, and Britt Christiansen scored in the 75th minute on a pass from Vanessa Macen as the Raiders (2-1) blanked the Lasers in a nonconference match at Moorpark.

Joleen Redublo made four saves for Moorpark.

Glendale 7, East L.A. 0--Lynette Micheli scored four times and Sandra Rosales added two goals and three assists for the Vaqueros (1-1) in a nonconference match at East L.A.

Sharon Landin had three saves for Glendale.

COLLEGE WATER POLO

Valley 12, El Camino 7--Roger Wright had three goals, and Steve Taylor, Paul Lovejoy and Gyak Gopadzhikyan each added two for the Monarchs (4-5-1) in a nonconference match at El Camino.

Hamlet Azarian had 12 saves for Valley.
