Santa Ana Valley was shut out for the second consecutive game, losing, 27-0, to ninth-ranked Kennedy on Friday at Santa Ana Stadium.

Garrett Sabol scored three of Kennedy’s four touchdowns. “Garrett Sabol is the best athlete in the county,” Kennedy Coach Mitch Olson said.

Sabol’s first score came on a five-yard run, with 11 minutes left in the first half. He gave the Fighting Irish (2-0) a 14-0 halftime lead when he caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Tom Haas, who was 13 for 22 for 152 yards and three touchdowns. Kennedy’s defense not only kept the Falcons out of the end zone, it only gave up 129 yards in total offense. “[Our defense] has won us all our games in the last few years,” Olson said.

Kennedy’s offense, which compiled 305 yards total offense, continued to pound away at the Falcons’ defense in the second half as J.D. Jones caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Haas, with four minutes left in the third quarter.

Sabol completed the scoring with a 17-yard touchdown catch at the end of the third quarter.

Even though the Falcons (0-2) been outscored, 83-0, in two games, Coach Eddie Stewart isn’t giving up hope yet. “I still think we’ll be OK,” he said. “I just hope we pick it up next week.”
