Tom FitzGerald of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Hank Greenwald stories continue to pour in as the announcer concludes his last week with the Giants.

A game was recalled when wind-blown trash was swirling around Philadelphia Phillie center fielder Lenny Dykstra, who was famous for spitting tobacco juice on the field.

Said Greenwald, “Well, the garbage is blowing around Dykstra, disproving the theory that opposites attract.”

“The Hunt for Red October” is the title of a novel by Tom Clancy, a part-owner of the Baltimore Orioles who has voiced his disapproval. The team has since changed the slogan to “It’s going to be a red October,” referring to the team’s color and the month of the playoffs.
