Lawrence Monroy completed 14 of 20 passes for 170 yards and Grant High’s defense limited visiting San Fernando to 54 yards in offense for a 21-8 victory Friday.

Grant used a short passing game and a solid running attack to help snap a 15-game losing streak.

Grant (1-2) led, 13-0, at halftime and then put the game away on a 16-play, 56-yard drive that was capped by Luis Escamilla’s four-yard touchdown run with 6 minutes 40 seconds left in the game.

“I can’t explain it. I can’t explain it,” said Escamilla, wiping away tears of happiness. “We have been waiting for this moment all year.”
