Tractor-Trailer Crash Stalls Freeway Traffic
A tractor-trailer traveling south on the Ventura Freeway between La Conchita and Seacliff blew a tire and rolled down a 30-foot rock embankment at around 11:30 a.m. Monday, leaving the driver with minor injuries but stalling traffic until the wreckage was cleared seven hours later.
The truck, which was carrying prefabricated parts for tract homes, overturned several times, coming to rest near the beach at Mobil Pier Road.
The driver of the truck, whose name was not released, suffered minor injuries.
Two southbound lanes of the Ventura Freeway were closed for several hours during the afternoon while a crane was dispatched from Ventura to clear the wreckage. The two lanes were reopened to traffic by 6:45 p.m.
