Northridge Loses Linebacker Pifferini
Linebacker Rob Pifferini has become the third key player from Cal State Northridge’s defense to be lost for the season. Coach Dave Baldwin announced Thursday a midweek examination revealed Pifferini suffered torn ligaments in his right thumb during last week’s game.
Pifferini will undergo surgery, though it has not been scheduled. The junior transfer from De Anza College is third on the team with 27 tackles.
Northridge already has lost defensive lineman Pete Silvey (broken foot) and linebacker Loren Bedwell (torn knee ligament) for the season. Linebacker Teddy Mack (seizures) also may be out for the season.
Defensive lineman Mike Greslie will undergo an MRI on his shoulder today. He won’t play Saturday against Portland State.
