Alhambra 32, La Canada 27--Adam Tate rushed 23 times for 280 yards and three touchdown as visiting Alhambra (3-1) defeated the Spartans (2-2).
Running back Eric Leverton rushed 20 times for 207 yards and one touchdown for La Canada. Leverton also completed a 30-yard touchdown pass.
Trailing by 11 points with 1:57 to play, La Canada’s Jeff Spengler caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from wide receiver Chris Walker on a trick play, pulling the Spartans within five points. A two-point conversion failed and the Spartans could not recover an onside kick.
