Shark bait: The field of 10 two-man teams that will compete in the Shark Shootout golf tournament is set and includes fan favorites John Daly and Peter Jacobsen, tournament director Eric Jonke said Thursday.

Defending champions Mark Calcavecchia and Steve Elkington will have their hands full in trying to repeat with players such as Mark O’Meara, Scott Hoch and tournament host Greg Norman.

Those invited based on career earnings are: Tom Kite, Curtis Strange, Craig Stadler, Lanny Wadkins, Chip Beck, Hale Irwin, Bruce Lietzke, Jay Haas, Raymond Floyd and Jacobsen.

Senior PGA Tour leading money winner Jim Colbert, David Duval, Brad Faxon and Lee Janzen join Daly as those receiving special invitations.

The Shark Shootout will be held Nov. 12-17 at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks. For ticket information call 800-924-8983.

III Feat: George Branham III ended a drought on Wednesday, defeating Mark Williams, 234-194, to win the Cleveland Open in Bedford, Ohio, for his first Professional Bowlers Assn. title in three years.

Branham, who grew up in Arleta, averaged 232.26 for 42 games in besting a 134-man field for his fifth career tour title.
