The Ontario Christian defense did not allow Calvary Chapel a first down in the fourth quarter and limited the Eagles to 13 total yards.

Ontario Christian’s Rob Behnke intercepted a Daniel Murrieta pass and returned it 26 yards to the Eagle 45 in the second quarter. Knight quarterback Ben Goedhart kept the ball on an option and ran untouched 19 yards to put the Knights up, 7-0, with 9:31 left in the half.

Calvary Chapel scored 13 points in 50 seconds. Murrieta found Zak Davis for a three-yard scoring pass with 5:11 left in the first half. Two plays after the kickoff, Keith Short intercepted a Goedhart pass and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown.

Just before halftime, Goedhart drove the Knights to the Calvary Chapel 13. However, Goedhart lost track of the downs and spiked the ball into the ground thinking it was third down rather than fourth down.

Ontario Christian took a 14-13 lead with less than seven minutes left in the third quarter when Giles scored his first touchdown on a two-yard run. The Eagles got the lead two minutes later with a 19-yard scoring by Rico Andino and a two-point conversion pass from Murrieta to Luke Clardy.

Giles scored his second touchdown with 28 seconds left in the third quarter. The Knight defense held Andino on fourth and one at the Ontario Christian 33, which led to Giles’ winning touchdown.
