Police arrested a 38-year-old man Friday on suspicion of attempting to kidnap a 13-year-old as she was walking to school, authorities said.

Ronald Leroy Yarbrough of Garden Grove is suspected of approaching the girl about 7:20 a.m. Monday and offered a ride, Police Sgt. Tom Pixler said. When the girl refused, the driver allegedly grabbed her and tried to force her into the vehicle, but the girl broke free and fled to a friend’s house nearby, police said at the time.

The girl was not injured, authorities said.

The next day, a police officer saw a car matching the description of the vehicle the girl described and questioned Yarbrough, the driver. Further investigation revealed evidence that linked Yarbrough to the crime, and police obtained an arrest warrant and arrested him Friday at his place of work in Huntington Beach, Pixler said.
