Senior quarterback Dave Parrish set one school record and tied another Friday night in leading Esperanza to a 55-14 Sunset League victory over Huntington Beach at Valencia High.

Parrish completed 15 of 19 passes for 292 yards with four touchdowns and one interception in three quarters. With 3,572 yards passing in his career, Parrish moved into first place on the Aztecs’ all-time list ahead of Greg Beckman. Beckman passed for 3,467 yards in the 1984 and ’85 seasons.

His four touchdown passes tied a school single-game mark. He’s one of five Aztecs with four touchdown passes in a game.

Esperanza (7-1, 3-0 in league play) scored on its first two possessions. Parrish teamed with Randy Ross on a 42-yard touchdown pass, helping Esperanza take a 7-0 lead. Jamaal Footman scored the Aztecs’ second touchdown on an 11-yard run.

Defensive back Scott Dobashi intercepted a Dave Van Hoorebeke pass and returned it 30 yards for Esperanza’s third touchdown of the half. Parrish then threw his second touchdown pass of the half from nine yards out to John Clark.

Midway through the third quarter, running back Jason Locklin finally got the Oilers (3-5, 1-2) going on offense. Locklin scored on a 35-yard touchdown run and gained 109 yards in 18 carries.
