Notre Dame 42, Bishop Montgomery 8--Justin Fargas rushed for 228 yards and three touchdowns in eight carries as the Knights (7-1, 3-0) made short work of Bishop Montgomery (2-6, 0-3).

Fargas, who has rushed for more than 200 yards six times this season, ran for 49 yards on the first play. On the next play, he scored on a 35-yard run.

By the time the first quarter was over, he scored twice more on runs of 27 and 51 yards. He left the game for good early in the third quarter.

Notre Dame’s Jorge Piedre was not to be outdone. He connected with Adam Boyd on a 25-yard scoring pass in the first quarter. Piedre threw only one other pass, for a 19-yard gain, and he returned a punt 42 yards for a touchdown.

The Notre Dame defense contributed when linebacker Joe Arango intercepted a pass thrown by Demond Chiles and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown.

“I was happy with the way we played coming off two emotional games,” Notre Dame Coach Kevin Rooney said. “The team played the way we expected them to play, but we can get better and better.”
