Man Killed When Truck Hits Tree

GARDEN GROVE — A 43-year-old Garden Grove man was killed early Sunday when he lost control of his truck on Garden Grove Boulevard and slammed into a tree, police said.
Michael John Chaffey was traveling east on Garden Grove Boulevard at 5 a.m. in his 1987 Toyota pickup when he drifted off the road “for unknown reasons,” said Traffic Investigator Tim Murray of the Garden Grove Police Department.
The driver jumped the curb, sideswiped one tree and then slammed into another “head-on,” Murray said.
The accident is under investigation, Murray said.
