Reserves Key to Fast Start
Reserves have been instrumental in helping the team to its best start since 1993.
“I don’t call them reserves, I call them nonstarters,” Coach Bill Fitch said.
In the Clippers’ 97-85 season-opening victory over the Golden State Warriors, reserves outscored Warrior reserves, 37-13.
The bench scored all 22 fourth-quarter points as the Clippers rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to take the New York Knicks to overtime before losing last Friday night at the Sports Arena, 88-81.
Reserves Stanley Roberts, Bo Outlaw, Eric Piatkowski and Darrick Martin outscored the Minnesota Timberwolves, 15-0, in a 6 1/2-minute spurt in Sunday’s 81-70 victory.
