Construction of Pipeline to Affect Road

Share

Traffic lanes and bike paths along Jeffrey Road will be closed periodically beginning Monday, when the Irvine Ranch Water District starts construction of a reclaimed-water pipeline.

Traffic delays are anticipated on Jeffrey Road between Irvine Center Drive and the San Diego Freeway because only one lane will be open to motorists, officials said. Signs have already been posted along the road to inform drivers and cyclists about the upcoming lane closures.

To minimize the inconvenience, construction hours will be limited from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, officials said. Construction on Saturdays will be necessary only when workers install pipeline at Jeffrey Road and Barranca Parkway.

The water district is constructing the pipeline to deliver reclaimed water that will be used to irrigate landscaping. The total cost of the project is $1.7 million.

Construction is expected to be completed in mid-December, officials said.
