Laker update--The schizophrenia continues. Their two best wins have come against the two best opponents, Houston and New York, both on the road. But two of the losses have come against teams that most pick for the lottery, Toronto and Charlotte, and a third against a club that came in 1-5, San Antonio. Mixed in have been struggles to get past Minnesota and Phoenix. Shaquille O’Neal is shooting 69.5% the last five games and 60.8% for the season.

Clipper update--They had a two-game winning streak broken in Thursday night’s loss to the Seattle SuperSonics. The Clippers have not beaten a team with a winning record this season. Center Kevin Duckworth failed to score for the third consecutive game, missing one shot in nine minutes against the SuperSonics. Reserve center Stanley Roberts didn’t play in the second half because of a bruised left hip. The Clipper reserves have played a key role in the club’s fast start, averaging 41.3 points in the first six games of the season.
