Titans Win Exhibition, Lose Player to Knee Surgery

Share

Cal State Fullerton won an exhibition basketball game from Global Sports, 89-72, Monday night in Titan Gym.

That was the good news for men’s basketball Coach Titan Coach Bob Hawking.

The bad news was that sophomore guard Kenroy Jarrett will have knee surgery this week because of torn cartilage as a result of a practice injury. He will be out four to six weeks.

That put something of a damper on an otherwise good night for the Titans in their final tuneup before they begin the season Friday at Brigham Young.

Senior forward John Williams led Fullerton with 32 points and nine rebounds. He was 13 of 22 from the field and made six of eight free-throw attempts.

Four other Fullerton players scored in double figures. Forward Craig Whitehead had 15, guard Chris Dade 13, and backup guard Dane Plock 12.

“It was a step forward for us from our exhibition game two weeks ago,” Hawking said. “We were much improved in a lot of areas.”

Joe Small, a former Cal State Fullerton player, had 14 for Global Sports.
