Mind Over Matter: She’s not a household name yet, but author Vanna Bonta is getting there, as word of mouth builds about her novel, “Flight: A Quantum Fiction Novel.” The inspirational book about the human soul “is touching people profoundly,” said spokeswoman Susan Halspark. . . . Bonta will be lifting spirits at Barnes & Noble in Encino tonight from 7:30 to 9.

Tonight: Richard Riordan, the well-known bibliophile, speaks at 7:30 at the Platt Branch Library, 23650 Victory Blvd., Woodland Hills. Riordan, who has his own vast collection, will discuss “Books and Libraries in My Life.”
