Villa Park baseball Coach Brian Corntassell has resigned.

Last season, Corntassell guided Villa Park to a third-place finish in the Century League and a 14-10-1 overall record in his first year. The Spartans beat Brea Olinda in a wild-card game, but lost to Warren in the first round of the Southern Section playoffs.

“I had a good time last year, but I had to get out,” Corntassell said, adding that he was leaving for personal reasons.

Villa Park Principal Dan Birch said Athletic Director Frank Becker will coach the baseball team this season. He will be assisted by former head coach Dave Ochoa and Andy Haas.
