In another Division X game:
Nordhoff 32, Brethren Christian 26--Jim Musick ran 10 yards for a touchdown on a fake field-goal attempt in the second overtime as the top-seeded Rangers (11-0-1) outlasted Brethren Christian (5-6) at Artesia High.
Nordhoff’s Russell Farrar set up Musick’s heroics when he intercepted a pass by David Priestley in the end zone on Brethren’s first play from scrimmage in the second extra period.
Both teams scored touchdowns in the first overtime after finishing regulation play tied, 19-19.
It was Farrar’s rushing that kept Nordhoff in the game. He finished with 247 yards and one touchdown in 39 carries, and caught two passes for 24 yards. Farrar’s two-yard touchdown run in the first overtime gave the Rangers a short-lived 26-19 lead.
Brethren tied the game on a 10-yard pass from Priestley to Dan Muilenburg.
