SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

It was one of those nights when the ball didn’t bounce Palmdale’s way.

When it did bounce, Jason Thomas of Dominguez seemed to be there every time.

Thomas had four touchdowns, three on remarkable plays, as the Dons (11-1) ousted the Falcons, 35-14, at Dominguez High in a second-round game.

The play of the game came late in the third quarter, with Palmdale (9-3) driving while trailing, 21-7.

Jeremy Coleman took a snap at the Dominguez two-yard line and pushed into a mass of players.

After a few seconds of pushing and pulling, the ball came loose. Free safety Thomas scooped it up and ran 94 yards for a touchdown.

“Those refs don’t know how to referee,” said Palmdale’s Jason Anderson. “His knee was down and they were trying to say it wasn’t.”

The Falcons tried an onside kick with 10 minutes 16 seconds to play after they had pulled to within 28-14 on an 11-yard pass play from Coleman to Anderson.

The kick took a high bounce, hit a Falcon player on the helmet and bounced to Thomas, who raced 65 yards for a touchdown.

“It was just my destiny tonight,” Thomas said. “It was out of my control. The ball just kept bouncing my way.”

Thomas returned the second half kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown and scored on an 18-yard run to give Dominguez a 21-0 lead.
