Lindros Returning to Form

Eric Lindros started late this season because of a groin injury, and even when he got back into the Philadelphia lineup it was easy to tell he wasn’t his old self.

Until Thursday night.

Lindros put in one of his six shots on goal, moved the puck well and issued a few crunching checks of Hartford players in the Flyers’ 3-2 victory in Philadelphia.

“There are a lot of things starting to happen for him,” Coach Terry Murray said after the Flyers had extended their unbeaten streak to six games. “His game is starting to come. I think his game is getting very close to being on top.”

John LeClair and Pat Falloon also scored goals as the Flyers (5-0-1 in their last six games) won their fourth in a row at home.

Detroit 6, Chicago 2--Brendan Shanahan had a goal and two assists for the Red Wings, who ended a three-game home winless streak and dealt Chicago its fourth loss in a row.

Alexei Zhamnov and Kevin Miller scored for the Blackhawks in the first period against Chris Osgood, who had gone the equivalent of nearly two games without giving up a goal. The Red Wings then reeled off six goals in a row.

New Jersey 7, Boston 4--John MacLean’s two goals and Valerie Zelepukin’s three assists led the Devils, who took a 3-0 first-period lead in Boston and never trailed.

Edmonton 2, Tampa Bay 2--Roman Hamrlik’s power-play goal 57 seconds into the third period gave the Lightning a tie at Tampa.

Hamrlik’s blast from high in the slot was a rare power-play goal for Tampa Bay, which had converted only three of its previous 46 chances.
