Santa Ana Valley, Sr.

Earned his second consecutive first-team berth for his efforts this season. Finished second at the Century League finals and fifth at the Orange County Championships (15:18). Ran to a fifth-place finish in the section Division I finals (14:33) and a 17th-place finish at the state Division I finals.

DAN GASTON

Huntington Beach, Sr.

The Sunset League champion was a winner at the Las Vegas and Central Park invitationals this fall. Ran 15:31 for a sixth-place finish at the O.C. Championships and 14:30 for a third-place finish at the section Division II finals. Finished 13th at the state Division II finals in 15:55.

MARK GLEASON

Mission Viejo, Jr.

Won at the O.C. Championships (15:05) and the section Division II finals (14:20). Ran the fastest time by a county athlete at Woodbridge (15:12) and Dana Hills (14:41) invitationals. Won South Coast League championship. Finished fourth at the state Division IIfinals.

DANNY LEE

El Toro, Jr.

Emerged this fall after winning grade-level races at the Laguna Hills (15:31) and Woodbridge (15:14) invitationals. Finished third at the O.C. Championships (15:13) and in the Sea View League finals (15:18). Finished 13th in the section Division I finals in 14:53.

MICHAEL MURRAY

Santa Margarita, Sr.

Won at the Mt. Carmel and Yucaipa invitationals. Finished second at the Sea View League finals (15:07) and fourth at the O.C. Championships (15:17). Ran to a sixth-place finish in 15:44 at the state Division II finals and to a 22nd-place finish in 15:47 at the Foot Locker West Regionals.

JUSTIN NYBERG

Irvine, Sr.

Recovered from an early-season injury to become one of the county’s best by the end of the season. Won at the Sea View League finals in 14:58, then followed by finishing as runner-up at the section Division I finals (14:26). Finished eighth in the state Division I final in 15:48.

NICK RUSSELL

Orange, Sr.

The Century League champion was a heat winner at the section prelims. He finished second to Mark Gleason in the section Division II finals, running a season-best 14:27. Won in Division II at the Laguna Hills Invitational, also finished runner-up at O.C. Championships in 15:13.

TOM COFFEY

Coach of the Year

Tustin

In his 24th year at the helm of Tustin’s program, he guided the Tillers to their first victories in the O.C. Championships and section finals, winning the Division III race. Tustin also won the Golden West League championship for the second year in a row.
