Alemany Wins With Huge Rally

Alemany High rallied from a 20-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat North Hollywood, 66-64, in overtime in a semifinal game of the Burroughs tournament Friday night.

Francine Bennette’s basket for Alemany (5-2) with two seconds remaining sent the game into overtime.

Bennette scored 17 points and had 10 rebounds. She had eight points in the fourth quarter.

Dana Rios added 15 points for Alemany, including three free throws in overtime.

The Indians trailed, 50-30, entering the fourth quarter but held North Hollywood (7-2) to four points in the quarter.

Stephanie Wasserman scored 22 points for the Huskies.

Burroughs 67, Glendale 55--The Indians jumped to a 37-17 halftime lead and never looked back in a semifinal game of the Burroughs tournament.

Chantel Jimenez had 12 points and 11 rebounds and Melolini Malaki had 16 points and seven steals for Burroughs (6-3).

Victoria Oganyan and Alina Markari each had 18 points for Glendale (5-2).

Kennedy 65, Roosevelt 30--Tamaya Morris scored 22 points for Kennedy (8-2) in a consolation game in the Roosevelt tournament.

Newbury Park 2, Pasadena 0--The Panthers (2-5) won their first-round game in the Simi Valley tournament by forfeit because Pasadena failed to show for the 5:30 p.m. game.

Oak Park 55, Malibu 10--Michelle Frankson had 13 points, six rebounds and seven steals for the Eagles (5-5) in the third-place game of the Santa Paula tournament.

Oak Park forced 21 turnovers in the first half and held Malibu (2-5) to four points.

Santa Clara 56, Rio Mesa 43--Christi Hanson had 19 points and 13 rebounds for Santa Clara (4-5) in a nonleague game at Santa Clara.
