Mater Dei 84, Sacramento Jesuit 51--The 21-2 Monarchs, raced to a 24-9 first-quarter lead and were never really challenged by the visiting Marauders. The Monarchs’ Kevin Augustine led all scorers with 22 points, followed by Tom Lippold with 20.

Santa Margarita 79, Las Vegas Durango 70--An 8-4 spurt to start the fourth quarter broke a 53-53 tie and steady free-throw shooting down the stretch gave the Eagles (15-6) the victory.

Villa Park 71, Los Alamitos 54--Seven-foot-1 center Eric Chenowith scored 29 points and had 10 rebounds for Villa Park (17-4). Los Alamitos is 19-3.

Irvine Woodbridge 62, La Habra Sonora 59--The Warriors (17-4) got 18 points from forward Brandon Beeson and avenged an earlier 13-point loss to the Raiders (19-3).

GIRLS

Irvine Woodbridge 58, Mater Dei 49--Cathy Joens scored 18 points, and Krissy Duperron scored 15 and pulled down 12 rebounds to lift Woodbridge, the defending Division II state champion, to victory. The Warriors won despite 27 turnovers, 17 in the first half, because Mater Dei, the defending Division I champion, made only eight of 26 shots in the first half. Tina Garcia led Mater Dei with 22 points, 12 rebounds and eight steals.
