Erickson’s Big Payday Paces OCC

Cami Erickson won in singles and doubles to help host Orange Coast to a 7-2 victory over El Camino in a nonconference women’s tennis match Thursday at OCC.
Erickson defeated Naomi Yamazawa, 6-2, 6-4, in singles for Orange Coast (2-0).
Erickson partnered with Whitney Gilliam in doubles to defeat Yamazawa and Nin Newquist, 6-0, 6-1.
Gilliam also won her singles match, defeating Miho Fujita, 6-2, 6-2. El Camino is 3-2.

In another nonconference women’s match:
Irvine Valley 7 1/2, Cerritos 1 1/2--Jill Riley won, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles them combined with Liz Shumaker to win, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles for host Irvine Valley (1-2).
Shumaker won, 6-0, 7-5, also at No. 2 singles for Irvine Valley.
In nonconference men’s tennis matches:
Irvine Valley 6, Citrus 3--Visiting Irvine Valley lost at No. 1 and No. 2 singles but won the next five and improved to 3-0.
Cypress 5, Cerritos 4--Bijan Keshavarzi won in singles, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, for Cypress (1-4).
In nonconference softball:
Golden West 4, Santa Barbara 1--Jill Cardiel had two doubles and drove in a run for Golden West (2-0-1). Becky Thompson also had two hits and scored twice for the Rustlers.
It was the first game for Santa Barbara, which started a softball program this season.
