Come on, Lighten Up

Share

Based on the contents of Carol Lang’s epistle on the Times Food Section’s shortcomings, one might expect to find, if meeting Lang, another half-crazed “vegomaniac” clutching aloft a tofu burrito with yogurt salsa, preparing to slosh it down with a seaweed and plankton shake. And that’s OK if that’s what floats your raft. But come on, lighten up.

While I, too, look to eat light and healthy, it doesn’t consume my entire culinary exploits. The salivary fat-encrusted articles and recipes set forth in the Food Section are worth the price of subscription. What makes for better cooking (or reading), an Oat Bran-Stuffed Breast of Skinless Quail on a Bed of Free-Ranch Dandelions or a dynamite Osso Buco and Risotto Milanese? Besides, I’ve honestly felt that the Times Food Section has bent over backward to please palates of every ethnic and politically correct group, including yours and mine.
