Both teams have clinched spots in the Big West tournament, beginning March 7 at Reno. Long Beach State has won four consecutive games and is alone in second in the Western Division. James Cotton scored 21 points and guard Brandon Titus had 22 in Long Beach State’s 89-63 victory over UC Irvine on Thursday night. The Titans continue to struggle without John Williams, out for the season because of a broken wrist. They shot only 35.4% in Thursday night’s 81-57 loss to Pacific. Guard Chris Dade has been Fullerton’s leading scorer in eight of the last nine games.
