It’s . . . Superman: It was supposed to be faster than a speeding bullet, like its namesake, the Man of Steel. Instead, it was a roller coaster with feet of clay. But Magic Mountain officials say months of delays are now over. . . . County safety officials gave final approval to the ride on Thursday, and the “world’s tallest, fastest, most technologically advanced” roller coaster is now due to blast off on March 15.

Grammy Gospel: While he wasn’t nominated for an award this time around, the Valley’s own five-time Grammy winner Andrae Crouch was still a part of this week’s Grammy ceremonies. “Tribute--The Songs of Andrae Crouch” was awarded a Grammy as best pop/contemporary gospel album. . . . The songs, recorded by various gospel artists, honor Crouch, a gospel legend and pastor of Pacoima’s Christ Memorial Church.

Policing the Police: It’s going to be easier for Valley residents who want to lodge complaints against the men and women who protect and serve. Forget the long trek downtown to Parker Center. The Valley now has its own Internal Affairs Division office. It’s in Mission Hills, staffed with investigators trained to handle complaints--and compliments--about the cops.
