Barry Is Down on Himself

Guard Brent Barry, who averaged only 10.4 minutes per game last month, has gotten more playing time, averaging 22 minutes in the Clippers’ last three games.

Barry played 20 minutes in Saturday night’s 91-85 loss to the Detroit Pistons, getting six points, two rebounds and two assists.

“I wonder why [he’s playing more], my play has been terrible, I should be playing less,” said Barry, who has made eight of 17 shots in his last three games. “I need to spend a lot of time working after practice because my game right now has been awful.”

Barry and guard Darrick Martin had a heated discussion following a fourth-quarter timeout after Joe Dumars made two three-point shots during a 10-0 spurt that helped the Pistons put the game away.

“We don’t really dispute, we’re just talking because we’re trying to get the stuff corrected after two threes and us going down eight you want to work it out before you’re down 12,” Barry said.

Clipper guard Malik Sealy is nicknamed Silk, but his shot hasn’t been smooth recently.

Sealy, who has shot 36.4% in his last 10 games, missed seven of 11 shots against the Pistons.

“Silk is really having a tough time with his shots,” Clipper Coach Bill Fitch said. “The funny part about Sealy is that I can’t remember him taking a bad shot. I keep telling him, ‘if you keep taking good shots, they’ll drop.”’
