The Boston Celtics signed veteran forward-center Stacey King to a 10-day contract.

King is replacing guard-forward Greg Minor, who is recovering from surgery on his right foot on March 4.

The 6-foot-11 King was the Continental Basketball Association’s second leading rebounder, averaging 9.6 per game.

A veteran of 427 NBA regular season games, King played most recently for the Miami Heat. He was the Chicago Bulls’ first-round draft pick in 1989. He played with the Bulls until a 1994 mid-season trade to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he played through the 1994-95 season. He was traded to the Heat in 1995.

Guard-forward Jamie Watson, waived last week by the Utah Jazz, signed a 10-day contract with the Dallas Mavericks. Watson, a third-year player, replaces Jason Sasser, whose second 10-day contract expired last weekend. Watson was nearly traded to Dallas on Feb. 20 along with center Greg Foster and a No. 1 draft pick in a deal that would have sent guard Derek Harper to Utah. Harper vetoed the trade.
