Women Are Playing Basketball Too
As I began to read the paper on Monday, I was pleased with the women’s Final Four tournament coverage. This was short-lived as I turned the page and viewed the men’s bracket.
The coverage of the men’s Final Four was written in more detail, and the bracket illustration was in color and in multidimensional type. The women’s bracket was in simple text and considerably less attractive.
This is gender discrimination!
I am a teacher and try hard to break down the walls of discrimination in our society. Articles like these only justify the biases put on people because of their gender, race, religion, sexual orientation and socioeconomic background.

On Monday morning, my husband and I were discussing the finals of the March Madness basketball tournaments. He showed me the schedule for the women’s games and then turned the page looking for the men’s schedule.
What a surprise! It was much larger and in blazing color. It appeared to be rather blatant and sexist.
