Senior All-Star Girls’ Soccer Game Set Tonight

The Orange County senior all-star girls’ soccer game will be played at 7 tonight at Chapman.

Phyllis Scarborough of Esperanza and Matt Williams of Dana Hills will coach the Blue team and Kerry McGrath-Crooks of Edison and Jack Peterson of Trabuco Hills will coach the White squad.

Tom Danley, Katella basketball coach, has been named the Western Regional winner of the National Council of the Secondary School Athletic Directors Award program. He is one of four finalists for the National Athletic Director of the Year award, which will be presented Saturday by the National Assn. for Sport and Physical Education.

Golden West sophomore middle blocker Tina Bowman signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for South Florida, according to Rustler Coach Albert Gasparian. Bowman, a graduate of Newport Harbor, was a two-time all-state selection and helped Golden West to two state championships. South Florida was the champion of Conference USA last season.

Stacy Dillard, a midfielder for Mission Viejo, has signed a letter of intent to attend Drury College in Springfield, Mo., her father, Tom, said.

Dillard was a first-team All-South Coast League and All-Southern Section Division I selection last season after leading the Diablos to a tie in the Division I final. She played sparingly this season after injuring her knee this summer.

The Orange County chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame honored 27 local high school and community college scholar-athletes at its recent awards banquet. The players were nominated by their schools and selected by the chapter’s board of directors.
