Brandun Hughes made a jumper with seven seconds left as Michigan hung on for a 67-66 victory over Notre Dame at South Bend, Ind., in the quarterfinals of the NIT. The Irish (16-14) had a chance, but Admore White’s reverse layup was way off. The Wolverines (22-11) will play Arkansas Tuesday in the NIT semifinals in New York.

Central Washington overcame a 14-point second-half deficit thanks to three-point shooting and upset 12th-seeded Azusa Pacific, 87-76, in the second round of the NAIA tournament at Tulsa, Okla. . . . In the lowest-scoring national tournament contest in 36 years, Biola (28-6) lost, 41-36, to Oklahoma Baptist (34-3), which reached the third round of the NAIA tournament.

Kebu Stewart scored 17 points as Cal State Bakersfield (28-4) advanced to the NCAA Division II championship game with an 81-68 victory over Salem-Teikyo (28-3) at Louisville, Ky. The Roadrunners will play Northern Kentucky (30-4), which beat Lynn (Fla.), 79-58.
