Utah Assistant Coach to Interview at UC Irvine
Donnie Daniels, an assistant coach at Utah, will be interviewed Tuesday for the UC Irvine men’s basketball job, sources said.
Daniels has been an assistant at Utah since 1989. The Utes, who lost to Kentucky in the Midwest Regional semifinals last season, lost to the Wildcats in the West Regional final Saturday.
Daniels was previously an assistant at Nevada Las Vegas and Cal State Fullerton. He was also the head coach at Los Angeles Harbor Community College.
He is the fourth coach to be interviewed since Irvine Coach Rod Baker was let go. Riverside Community College Coach Bob Schermerhorn, Northern Arizona Coach Ben Howland and Irvine assistant Joe Cravens were interviewed last week.
