They Say This Game Is 90% Dental

Coach Bill Fitch has taken to calling rookie center Lorenzen Wright “Toothless” after he broke a tooth in Tuesday night’s 110-104 overtime victory over the Vancouver Grizzlies.

Wright lost the tooth when he was accidentally hit by Grizzly center Bryant Reeves. Wright took the tooth out of his mouth and handed it to trainer Ray Melchiorre as he ran by the bench.

“Big Country elbowed me in my jaw and chipped my tooth,” Wright said. “I’ve got to get it fixed. Every time I eat or drink something I can feel it in the back of my mouth because a nerve is exposed.”

The Clippers will stay in an apartment complex in suburban Indianapolis for Sunday’s game against the Indiana Pacers because they couldn’t secure hotel space due to this weekend’s Final Four at the RCA Dome.

“I just know there’s 25 big beds out there for us,” Fitch said. “It’s not good scheduling to put an NBA game in there in the middle of the Final Four.

“I can’t believe that the Pacers would go for it, but evidently they’ve got a sold-out crowd.”

Fitch won’t attend the Final Four.

“You get a better seat watching it on TV,” he said.
