Barkley Pierces Santa Barbara, 19-4

Seth Barkley had three hits, including a three-run home run, and drove in seven runs for Pierce College in a 19-4 victory over Santa Barbara in a Western State Conference baseball game Thursday at Santa Barbara.

Tony Montiel had five hits, including a double and a triple, and Ryan McCloskey added four hits for Pierce (13-17, 5-9 in conference play).

Cuesta 12, Canyons 11--Brock Benson allowed a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning of a WSC game at Cuesta (26-5, 12-1).

Canyons (22-9, 9-4) trailed, 10-0, after three innings before David Soto started a rally with a three-run home run in the fifth.

Valley 5, Moorpark 3--Brad Farlow doubled home Ray Montenegro with the go-ahead run in the sixth for the Monarchs in a WSC game at Moorpark.

Kyle Leonard (2-5) allowed three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings while striking out seven before leaving with an hip injury.

Erick Buitrago retired 10 of 11 batters to get a save for the Monarchs (4-24-3, 3-10).

Oxnard 4, Mission 0--Daniel Martinez (4-4) pitched a four-hitter for the Condors (13-14) in a WSC game at Oxnard.

Bakersfield 14, Ventura 7--Jason Watkins hit a three-run triple for the Pirates (15-12, 4-9) in the eighth inning of a WSC game.

The Master’s 3, Point Loma Nazarene 1--Heath McElwee pitched a six-hitter for the Mustangs (16-21) at Point Loma Nazarene (12-21-1).

Hancock 7, Glendale 3--Darrin Reisman had two hits for Glendale in a WSC game at Hancock.

Moorpark 14, Santa Barbara 0--Alicia Ramos had a home run and four RBIs for the Raiders (16-15, 6-2) in an WSC game.

Cal Lutheran 7, Chapman 2--Jill Embree beat Ann Abinales and joined Karrie Matson to win in doubles for the Regals (9-6).
